Porsche Taycan 4S: The Electric sports car

The Porsche Taycan 4S is the brand’s first-ever electric sports car, and it’s a head-turner in every sense. With a strong emphasis on performance and design, Porsche has created an electric vehicle that not only drives like a traditional sports car but feels like one too. From the sleek looks to the exhilarating power under the hood, this car is sure to leave an impression.

Most electric cars today are all about sharp lines and futuristic designs. But Porsche has gone the other way—revisiting their iconic heritage, blending smooth curves and flowing lines that have defined Porsche for decades. This year marks 75 years of Porsche sports cars, and the Taycan 4S is a perfect continuation of that timeless design philosophy.

At first glance, the Porsche Taycan 4S doesn’t scream “electric vehicle,” and that’s part of the charm. The smooth wheel arches, the curvy rear-end, and the neatly tucked-in headlights all come together to make the car look more like a classic Porsche than a futuristic EV.

What I love most about the Taycan is the light strip at the rear—it’s simply stunning, and Porsche has truly mastered this design element. The logo encased in glass is a beautiful touch, and the active three-stage rear spoiler that extends at higher speeds not only looks cool but also improves performance. And yes, if you’re a neat freak like me, you’ll be happy to know you can manually open the spoiler from the inside to clean it.

While the wheels on the Taycan 4S are cool, I would have loved to see the iconic Mission E wheel design on this model. That said, the customization options on this car are mind-blowing, so if you’re willing to spend, you can truly make this car your own.

The interior of the Taycan 4S is a tech lover’s dream. With five screens in total, you’re not going to find a single physical button anywhere, giving the cabin a sleek and modern look.

  • Infotainment displays: You get two 10.9-inch screens—one in the center and another for the passenger, so they can control navigation, media, and phone options without distracting the driver.
  • Touchpad controls: The center console features an 8.4-inch portrait display that controls the air conditioning, acts as a digital touchpad for the infotainment system, and has haptic feedback for ease of use while driving.
  • Driver-focused screens: The 16.8-inch curved instrument panel is customizable, allowing you to choose what information you want to prioritize. It also has touch controls for adjusting ride height, traction control, and other essential functions.

The air conditioning system is another futuristic touch—the vents are fixed in place, and you control the airflow through the touchscreen. You can adjust the airflow to be diffused or focused on specific areas, giving you a tailored driving experience.

Underneath all that technology lies a true Porsche sports car. The Taycan 4S features a two-speed motor at the back and a one-speed motor at the front, delivering 429 horsepower and 640 Nm of torque. But here’s where it gets really fun—thanks to an overboost feature, you can unlock up to 522 horsepower when you activate launch control. The G-forces you feel when launching this car are like nothing else—it’s pure adrenaline.

Weighing in at 2.2 tonnes, the Taycan 4S isn’t light, but you’d never know it from the way it handles. The car is incredibly agile, and with air suspension, it soaks up bumps with ease, making it both a performance beast and a comfortable daily driver. Even with the uneven roads of Noida, I never once felt the car scrape, thanks to the adjustable ride height.

The driving modes allow you to change the character of the Taycan 4S at the push of a button. Sport Plus mode adds a futuristic sound that gives the car an even more thrilling feel, and the throttle response becomes razor-sharp. Whether you’re cruising in comfort or pushing the car to its limits, it feels like a sports car through and through.

One of the biggest concerns with any electric car is the range, and the Taycan 4S delivers here too. The 79.2 kWh battery offers a range of around 380 to 400 km on a full charge, although, as with any EV, that number can drop if you’re driving aggressively.

To help extend the range, the Taycan 4S features brake energy recuperation, which also adds a bit of engine braking, giving it a more familiar driving feel for those used to traditional cars. Plus, with two charging ports—one for AC and DC charging and one for AC charging only—you have plenty of flexibility when it’s time to plug in.

Here’s where things get really interesting: the Porsche Taycan 4S starts at ₹1.7 crores, but the customization options are nearly endless. Want custom wheels? You got it. How about a personalized logo or text painted on the car? Done. You can spec this car exactly how you want it, but be prepared—the price can soar up to ₹3 crores if you go all out.

Despite the high price tag, you’re getting more than just an electric car—you’re getting a Porsche. The Taycan 4S is built for performance, luxury, and daily drivability. Whether you’re zipping through traffic or cruising on a long drive, this car delivers on every front.

The Porsche Taycan 4S is a game-changer in the world of electric sports cars. With stunning looks, exhilarating performance, and cutting-edge technology, this car is everything you’d expect from Porsche—just without the gas engine. Whether you’re in it for the thrill, the luxury, or just to make a statement, the Taycan 4S delivers on all fronts.

It’s a car that combines raw power, luxurious comfort, and the prestige of owning a Porsche. And no matter how many electric cars hit the market, there’s something special about a Porsche—a brand that continues to stand out in the world of high-performance vehicles.
